Update on the Chris Jones contract negotiations
The Chiefs are reportedly "unwilling" to make defensive tackle Chis Jones the league's highest-paid defensive tackle, per The Athletic's Nate Taylor.
Jones has been missing team activities as he is looking for an extension entering the final year of his four-year $80 million contract.
The current highest paid defensive tackles in the league are Aaron Donald from the Los Angeles Rams and Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets. Donald signed a three-year deal last year that was worth $95 million that made him the highest paid player at his position. The Jets signed Williams to a four-year $96 million deal in July that made him the second highest paid defensive tackle.
Jones recently made No.10 on the NFL Top 100 players of 2023 list.

During the 2022 season Jones had 15.5 sacks and 30 solo tackles.
Jones is looking to at least become the second highest paid defensive tackle in the league before the Kansas City Chiefs kickoff the 2023 regular season against the Detroit Lions Sept. 7.
