After the Chiefs second preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Chiefs returned to practice at One Arrowhead Drive for the first time this season.
Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was back at practice not wearing the yellow no-contact jersey. After practice Tuesday Pacheco was asked if he felt like he was back.
“I don’t feel like I’m back-back," Pacheco said. “I was back out there when I was out there in St. Joe, and I felt like I was comfortable breaking with the guys just being able to get as much out of it as I can.”
Pacheco is preparing for his second season with the Chiefs after rushing for 830 yards and five touchdowns in 2022. He said that he has learned from other veteran players about how to take care of his body in the NFL.
“It takes the mental toughness to be able to find a routine to maintain the shape of your body," Pacheco said. “For me, I’m just finding older guys to ask questions and pick their brains about how to take care of your body. For me that’s what I love doing because I love talking about the game and taking care of myself.”
Pacheco said that there is one area he wants to improve on going into this year and that he has a word that he wants to follow this season.
“Be more flexible,” Pacheco said. “For me that’s the word I want to use because taking care of my body, as I said before, being able to stretch a lot more just finding ways to be looser so I can be more explosive out there.”
The Chiefs will continue the preparation for the final preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium Saturday Aug. 26.
