The Chiefs have traded wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2025.
Smith-Marsette played college football at the University of Iowa. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
In his first year with the Vikings he had 116 yd receiving and two touchdowns.
He was waived by the Vikings in Aug. 2022. He was claimed a few days later by the Chicago Bears in Sept. 2022 and then waived a couple months later in Oct. 2022.
After a short time with the Bears the Chiefs signed Smith-Marsette to the practice squad and was elevated to the active roster prior to the regular season finale against the Las Vegas Raiders Jan. 6, 2023.
In the 2023 preseason with the Chiefs he had 195 yds receiving and two touchdowns. The first one he had was against the Arizona Cardinals in week two when quarterback Blaine Gabbert found Smith-Marsette on a short pass around the 10-yard line and he was able to finish the play with a front flip into the end zone.
