The Kansas City Chiefs began training camp indoors at Missouri Western State University Aug. 4.
Thunderstorms kept the team inside for the first half of practice before making their way to the outdoor field for the second half.
"So as long as there’s no lightning, it’s all good,” coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll come out and work, and somewhere that will pay off for us down the road.”
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is preparing for his fourth season with the Chiefs. In his first three seasons with the Chiefs, he had 11 rushing and six receiving touchdowns, 1,622 rushing yards and 577 receiving yards. He said his mindset going into this season is the same as every year.
“Whenever my number’s called, I will be there to do my job and do what I need to do as far as being on the field as a running back.” Edwards-Helaire said.
He is from Baton Rouge, LA and played college football at LSU where he won the national championship in the Caesars Superdome with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Edwards-Helaire will be making a return to Louisiana when the Chiefs play their first preseason game against the New Orlean Saints Aug. 13.
“I’m excited man. I already got doctors, the little softball team that I go and check on in the summer, my dad and my whole family,” Edwards-Helaire said. “Whenever I am in the Superdome its been something special for me. I won a national championship and a high school championship there.”
